Under Connecticut law, eligible employees must receive 40 hours of paid sick leave per year. Employers may frontload this entitlement at the start of the benefit year, and may prorate the frontloaded amount for employees hired after the benefit year begins. About This Calculator

Connecticut's 2025 Paid Sick Leave amendments require employers with 25 or more employees to provide 40 hours of paid sick leave per year. Employers can choose to frontload the full entitlement at the start of the benefit year rather than requiring accrual.

For employees hired mid-year, employers may prorate the frontloaded amount based on the portion of the benefit year remaining. This calculator uses the standard calendar-year benefit period (January 1 – December 31).
